September Blog Post

For the month of september, I wanted to talk about my the actual work I did with the advice of my mentor. My mentor told me to pay attention to details in stitching and shape and to always look at a new or interesting way of doing something. Taking note of all the great advice she gives me, i created a jacket with shapes that lift up (the collar) without being a separate piece. I also studied the idea of consistency in a design. One hardly ever sees a new car driving out of the dealership with one door red while the rest of the car is white, unless it adds a design aspect. So, in the case of the jacket I made, to stitch some parts of the jacket (slightly altering the shape) would be inconsistent with the rest of the design (inside and out) which is has no visible seams.

Blog 7

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
- For my 30 hours I plan to work besides my mentor creating various garments. This involves sketching and designing, pattern making, and construction of the garment. Later the garments will be photographed.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
-By construction garments with my mentor, I can provide tangible evidence such as sketches, garments, patterns and even final product photographs.
3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
- When constructing these garments, I will be experiences the various parts of the design process. Once I have finally come up with a design along side my mentor, we will both go through the steps that it takes to create a garment.

Blog 5 - Mentorship and Research Reflection

1. Mentorship question: Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship?  If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far in the search of a mentor.

My mentor is a close family friend that studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

2. Research question: What has been your most important article you have read so far and why?
